Das Mörtal has released the mini-album DECVY I (Decay) on October 30, 2026, through Lisbon Lux Records, one year after ORIGINS. The seven-track project opens a trilogy of mini-albums that examine body and mind decay while navigating dark obsession and sheer physical exhaustion. Now based in Montréal after beginning in Berlin, the producer has gathered over 32 million Spotify streams with placements on Retrowave // Outrun and Darkwave playlists, plus global radio and YouTube support. The release ranked Most Added New Release on the US NACC Top 200 and drew coverage from CLASH Magazine, KALTBLUT, METAL, Numéro Netherlands, Brutal Resonance, YourEDM, NOTION, PostPunk.com, and EARMILK. Since 2015 he has completed nearly 100 live shows, more than 70 across the U.S. and Europe, with festival slots at Osheaga, Transmusicales, FME, and MEG, and tour support for Vitalic, Perturbator, and Carpenter Brut. Drawing early inspiration from Steve Moore and Aphex Twin, he builds a dark and nostalgic sound that mixes German techno with horror and sci-fi film soundtrack elements.
Written during health struggles, DECVY I runs on hypnotic synths, heavy beats, and a dystopian atmosphere that blends dark techno and witch house with trance influences. Trance-punk opener ‘DRAIN ME’ conveys the frustration of medical tests. Witch-house track ‘GHOST’ offers comfort to someone grieving. Darkwave-infused ‘PARASITE’ depicts illness as an invasive force, and ‘NO CONTROL’ delivers a sombre synthwave reflection on losing control. The second half intensifies with ‘THE ENDLESS’ combining euphoric trance and witch house to portray endless suffering, while closer ‘IT KEEPS ME UP’ uses dark techno and dystopian sound design to show a mind consumed by pain. Focus track ‘RESTLESS’ opens on a poppy note of washed-out synth plucks with swelling, looming basslines that drop into synthwave-inspired percussion. Across its three-and-a-half-minute runtime the piece builds steadily before erupting into an instrumental breakdown of guttural, booming bass and plucking ’80s-inspired synths that heighten the urgency in lyrics about restlessness and isolation from illness, fitting listeners of Vitalic, Perturbator, Boy Harsher, and Ø [phase].
