Das Mörtal returns with the two-track single ‘DRAIN ME’, set for release on 30 September 2026 via Lisbon Lux Records. The project includes a remix by Dan Terminus and sets the stage for the forthcoming mini-album DECVY I, due 29 October 2026. Now based in Montréal after formative years in Berlin, Das Mörtal crafts a distinctive dark synthwave sound, drawing on German techno, occult electro, Italo disco, and the cinematic atmospheres of horror and sci-fi scores. With over 31.4 million Spotify streams, his music features on key playlists such as Retrowave // Outrun and Darkwave, and has earned recognition as Most Added New Release on the Top 200 NACC college chart, as well as coverage on NewRetroWave. Since 2015, Das Mörtal has played nearly 100 shows, including over 70 dates across the US and Europe in the UK, France, and Scandinavia, with appearances at Osheaga, Transmusicales de Rennes, FME, and Meg Festival, and performances alongside Vitalic, Perturbator, and Carpenter Brut.
‘DRAIN ME’ instantly immerses listeners in its shadowy synthwave world. Driven by a brisk, techno-charged rhythm and shimmering arpeggiated synths, the track moves into a sidechained midsection where ethereal, washed-out vocals float above the dense mix. Percussion shifts into half-time before the final chorus returns with renewed force. Obsession, exhaustion, and emotional decay pulse through hypnotic synth layers and relentless beats, hinting at the sonic depths of DECVY I. Dan Terminus, a luminary of the synthwave scene alongside Perturbator, Carpenter Brut, and GosT, reimagines the track with glitch-laced vocal edits, a low end that fuses acoustic and synthetic bass, punchy percussion, and delicate violin accents.
Das Mörtal revealed: “A track about the feeling of running in circles in the health care system while being drained from the multiple tests one person might go through.”
