The Grammy-Award winning producer and multi-platinum artist Purple Disco Machine announces his latest single ‘Die Maschine’, an infectious groove with a thoughtful message. Out today, the single comes ahead of Purple Disco Machine’s forthcoming album Paradise set for release on Friday 20th September.
With his many accolades and chart-topping success solidifying him as one of the genre’s key players, the album which features heavyweight collaborations from the legendary Nile Rodgers, Metronomy, Jake Shears, Duke Dumont, Sophie and the Giants, Nothing But Thieves and more will present 15 uplifting tracks transporting listeners to the dance floor.
Speaking about ‘Die Maschine’, Purple Disco Machine says:
“‘Die Maschine’ is the first song that I have ever done in the German language. I actually never wanted to do a song in German because I thought I would be limiting myself. But with the collaboration with Friedrich Liechtenstein, who is a real icon in Germany, it just felt right. So, the idea was to end the album with another ‘Paradise’ themed song (of which there are a couple throughout) – a song that has the message that we should care a little more about our own idea of paradise. We were looking for lyrics that describe a little bit about what we are doing to our planet, ‘our paradise’, without being too political. We tried to find a way to say this in a more ironic way and Friedrich did an amazing job with that. He basically came to my studio and just improvised, and the result was perfect.”
Exploring the theme of Paradise, the song’s lyrics narrated by German poet Friedrich Liechtenstein provokes a thought around the topic of man vs machine.
“The song which contains a sample of ‘Hills of Katmandu’, is really important to me as a DJ, because I have played it a lot in my sets throughout the years. But now with Friedrich’s vocals on it, it’s just on another level. As much as I love for my music to be fun and bring happiness to the people, it was also really important to me to include a song that’s a bit more political, but still fun to listen to and I believe we achieved that with ‘Die Maschine.”
