‘About You’ is featured on Solstis’s newly released EP As The Sun Hits, released on 11 October via Lowly Palace. As the Sun Hits is a 3-part EP series where Solstis showcase their brand new style and sound. previous single ‘Miss You’ also features on the new EP.
The duo share influences from a broad range of genres and styles including those of Smashing Pumpkins, Slowdive, Jai Wolf and ford. Their sound comparable to Odesza, BlackBird BlackBird, and Slow Magic, exercises their love for electronic music.
‘About You’ is a perfect example of this new direction. They describe their new sound as moving away from simple point-and-click production to the using easy-listening instrumentation. The duo explains what birthed this new series of EPs, “As the Sun Hits is a 3-part EP series highlighting our new sound. Influenced by 90s shoegaze and melodic bass, we wanted to use this project to transition away from an animated aesthetic portrayed by mechanic future bass to a more organic, wholesome instrumental focused appeal. The new aesthetic is highlighted by warm colors, everyday scenery and pixelation to bring the listener a sense of escape and clarify within the daily situations they constantly experience.”
