New York duo Cults share a remix of “I Took Your Picture” by celebrated French DJ and producer Étienne de Crécy (the founder of the iconic Super Discount series) as they head to Paris this evening to play Badaboum, the penultimate show of their current EU tour.
The remix morphs and melds the original around a propulsive beat and shimmering, euphoric synth scales, its sights set firmly on the dance-floor. Of the collaboration Étienne says: “I’m the biggest fan of the Cults since the first album !! I was really looking forward the third one & I play it on repeat. Strangely Madeline’s voice and melodies fit really perfectly with electronic music, whereas their sound is far from techno!! I was delighted to make a remix for this single as it is one of my favorite on the album!”
While Cults made their name in black and white – a pair of film school dropouts who in 2010 burst onto the New York scene with a perfect single and a darkly retro sound – their new album Offering is an exciting collection of songs exploding with heart, confidence, shimmering melody and buzzing life.
