We caught up with VELVET MOON, who released their latest single ‘A Love Song’ on October 11th via Argle Bargle Studios.

The single features rich chords, synths reminiscent of the 80s and lead singer Sandra Bjurman’s powerhouse vocals. The trio have amassed a whopping 15 million streams across platforms, and have been featured on Swedish TV commercials for prominent brands like Kappahl and Bollinger.

In the interview, we chat to VELVET MOON about the beautiful message behind the single, musicians on their radar, how they craft their sound and what’s next for them. Stream ‘A Love Song’ while reading the interview below:

Congratulations on the release of ‘A Love Song’! – Can you tell us what this single means to you?

This song is about a dear friend who passed recently. The vibe is in his spirit, uptempo with lush flair and indie pop glitter. He lived every second to the full and wants us to do the same <3

Studio work and music creation or performing and interacting with a live audience, which do you prefer?

We are all studio rats and love the process when sounds are birthed. The alchemy that fills the room as a song enters and presents itself for the first time, there’s nothing like it. With that said, we love to feed off our audience and have the energy go back and forth until it levitates.

What are or were some of the challenges for you in producing or performing while keeping true to your vision of your music?

Within VELVET MOON these issues have not come up since the band was started as a free space. We were tired of always compromising what we could or should do when it was a piece for others. All of us have been in the music industry for decades as songwriters, musicians and producers.

Is there any “non-musical” ingredient that is essential to crafting your sound?

Intimacy, safe space and loads of trust so that love can find its way in, that’s when the songs flower.

Who are three musicians you think the world needs to hear right now?

RY X, Ludwig Hart and Hazlett.

Breakdown the news for us: what can we expect from you in the near future?

A new album, our 5th in spring 2025. We just decided on its title Endless War In The Summer.
