Dark synthwave producer Das Mörtal has released his double single ‘PARASITE & GHOST‘ today via Lisbon Lux Records. Boasting more than 31.4 million streams on Spotify, the artist has secured global media and radio support while building an extensive catalog of EPs and albums. He has performed at major festivals including Osheaga, Transmusicales de Rennes, FME, and Meg Festival, and opened tours for Vitalic, Perturbator, and Carpenter Brut. Since 2015 he has played nearly 100 shows, with over 70 dates across the U.S. and Europe in the UK, France, and Scandinavia, and his tracks regularly appear on influential Spotify playlists such as Retrowave // Outrun and Darkwave.
Das Mörtal’s work has earned coverage from CLASH Magazine, KALTBLUT Magazine, METAL Magazine, and more. It also claimed Most Added New Release on the Top 200 NACC American college radio chart and regular spots on YouTube channels including NewRetroWave. Now based in Montréal after beginning in Berlin, he draws from Steve Moore and Aphex Twin to construct a dark, nostalgic sound that merges Techno, Occult Electro, horror and sci-fi film soundtracks, Italo disco, and further elements.
‘PARASITE‘ pushes a fast-paced darkwave structure driven by an energetic rhythm section and vivid synth melodies while addressing illness. ‘GHOST‘ shifts into witch-house-infused pop territory, layering engaging vocal melodies over propulsive kick-drum percussion built to command the dance floor. Both tracks map out the direction of the larger project to come and will land squarely with followers of Vitalic, Perturbator, and Ø [phase]. They serve as the first lead-in to his mini-album DECVY I, set for an October 29 release.
